Teen star and Grammy award-winning sensation Mya will be releasing her new album, “Control Freak,” in 2006. It's shaping up rather nicely. The petite caramel-skinned beauty invited Triad Magazine into The Hit Factory Criteria, in Miami, Florida, to preview some exclusive new tracks from the album.
“Belly”
A dark rich undertone saturates this track. To directly contrast the deep bass line that is the solid foundation for this track, Mya belts out a complicated melody in her pitch-perfect, clear upper register and dip down to tenor lows for more sharp distinction.
“Can U Handle? (Anatomy 1On1 Reprise)”
This R. Kelly-esque booty jam spreads the funk quickly and thickly. Rather explicit lyrics and a heavy 808 bounce on this track like mature rabbits in heat (no pun intended). Mya’s vocals have a soft, gossamer-like, glossy quality to them as she expertly reaches for octave-jumping leaps.
“Silence”
This horn-driven, choppy party jam is far from being quiet or “silent”. It blares with an urgent intensity that stings. Toms and bongos resonate like jungle drums. Mya’s vocals soar and navigate through trumpets and tubas like the veteran she is. The concept is a clever, rather novel, play on words that you fans will have to wait to understand.
sounds like it's gonna be good. I don't think Mya has had the most sucessful career ever. But I do hope that with this album, she will gwt the sucess that she truely deserves
All 3 three tracks sound crazy/hot. I can't wait for this album to come out. It'll definitely be the contemporary R&B album to have in '06.
Mya is used to platinum and gold certifications. Those are great honors but this time she's shooting for multi-platinum status and success overseas, I just know it.
I wish her all the success in the world cuz right now she NEEDS it. I fell in love with her before my obsession with B/DC and I'm the loyal type so hopefully she repays us for that..
