She needs cleaner productions, alot of the production on BTW was messy. She stayed doing WAY too much on some of those songs. It pissed me off, how she would have these hard-hitting verses, then go into these chorus' that sounded like they were stripped right from a Japanese Anime Intro.

The interesting thing is that, now that I've had a lot more time to listen to the album, the song that aren't overwhelmed with production aren't really the most liked. Bad Kids and Electric Chapel are two of the cleaner songs on the album, and hardly anyone actually appreciates them.
Heavy Metal Lover and Government Hooker and Judas are certainly very, very dense, but are some of the most universally-liked on the album. Government Hooker in particular is vicious. Most sound systems I've heard can't separate the sounds in the song, but when you do hear it under the right circumstances, it's a sonic treat.
Then there is the class that includes Americano and Marry The Night (and to some extent, Born This Way). I don't really think these songs are necessarily overcrowded with sound, but the way her vocals are emphasized certainly might make people feel that way. Americano and Marry The Night have an almost lo-fi terrordome quality to the vocals. I'm actually kind of worried about how Marry The Night will sound on the radio.
The other case I usually hear reeks of overly-dense production is Hair, but I'm not sure I agree. It has a lot of different sounds, sure, but I don't think it ever feels like an assault.
Overall, I'm not sure messy is the right word to describe most of it. Certainly there are times when it's messy, but I think most of the time, it's intense, ambitious and relentless.
