Ok, so Im writing in the Madonna album anticipation thread and I notice there's only like 20 thousand views and then I think: "well the album has not been released and bla bla, so its understandable..." Then I look at the Femme Fatale thread and has figures almost reaching the 300 thousand mark in the view area and then I see the Beyonce thread which has 200 thousand and a bit, and then I check the gaga thread and it has almost 800 thousand views...

So my question is, can we judge relevance of an artist by the number of views their threads have? But wait! Before all the Gaga stans say yes, are views on ATRL counted as unique views (the number of DIFFERENT people that have accessed a thread? OR If I go 20 times to a thread it counts 20 views? 'Cus if its the latter, some might assume that Gaga fans may be more obsessive than other fans, instead of saying she is more relevant!

Gaga has so much attention from the media its hard for us to not post the information that comes in. Its not like we sit in a thread and have nothing to discuss. The world largest popstar gets media attention like no other. She is constantly working on new things etc. Its rare when we have nothing "new" to discuss. I honestly haven't seen and don't think other popstars get this much attention from the media. Also, I think this site has more monsters than anything, haters alike, they stay checking for Gaga... just go take a look a SYG were people go into the BTW thread just to pick up on dirt.


EDIT: In my opinion, It most def has something to do with your fave being the center of attention by most media outlets.

The point is to know if the view count is unique views or overall views (when the same persons views the thread multiple times, those multiple times are counted)?

Its not to attack any specific stans or anything... I just want to know how the view count works, in order to make assumptions of the relevance of each act.

No, some artists here has many views which they don't really deserve...

I can agree to some extent: as I myself, view threads of artists I loathe, just to see what the big fuzz is about :P

Hmm, I think it would also depend on the members from said forum. I doubt a Beyonce forum will have more Gaga related things happening. I cant say the same thing for Britney fan forums because Exhale is more Lady Gaga than it is Britney.

Also, Lady Gaga threads(atrl) always tend to have more guest lurking about. I'm sure those count as views aswell.
