What do you mean what purpose would they have? They do it because they see how successful these features are and want in on the action. Its not a big deal really. Like i said a few posts up, all of these companies steal ideas from each other.

I always see Apple as a "Reinventor" they borrow and make it like their own.

I don't hate Apple. Actually, I like Apple. I own a Macbook, an iMac, and several iPods.

However, I just never found iPhone to be so innovating, and never felt its usability to be THAT good as people boasting.
For me, usability and customize features are the most important things, so I'll stick to my HTC with HTC sense.

I'm pretty much the same way. I have a Macbook and an Ipod touch but I was never into the IPhone. i've always preferred the Android OS. Apple has been really good with the way they market their phones. Most people see it as a style symbol and something to brag about. They think its the best and most innovative phone out there because that's what Apple has been able to put out to the public.

its all about the marketing and the way they're advertised. ppl think they are getting something unique and revolutionary when in fact it already exists in other phones. earlier this year i thought i was definitely going to buy the iphone 4. i was so sure. but then i decided to do a lot of research on iphones and compared them to other phones. i ended up getting the Samsung galaxy s2. it is amazing. specs wise, blows the iphone 4 out of the water and is equal or better than the 4s. flawless. cheaper. my advice is don't be a sheep and just blindly believe something is better because someone said so.
