Music News: Faith Hill to debut new single at the CMA Awards

But EW has learned exclusively that the country superstar is planning to make her long-awaited comeback by performing a new single, “Come Home,” at this year’s 45th Annual CMA Awards, which will air Nov. 9 on ABC at 8 p.m.

Virtually no details are available about the song, but in February, Hill was quoted as saying that she’d soon be in the studio working on an album of new material. Naturally, she was tight-lipped about what she was recording. “I’m not even prepared to talk about it right now,” she told Billboard at the time. “I’m right in the middle of it, so it’s really hard to describe what it is until I’m done. That’s the honest truth. I’ll be able to tell more, maybe once I come out of the studio in the spring.”

Hill hasn’t been in the recording studio in quite a while. Her last new album was Fireflies, which debuted on top the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart when it came out in August 2005. Subsequent albums were 2007′s The Hits and a holiday compilation, Joy to the World, in 2008.

The CMA Awards are set to be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who have done the job three times before. Besides Hill, other performers for the night include Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Paisley, Jason Aldean, and Keith Urban.

Perfect timing! Women in country need to revolutionize again. Mainstream country radio is way too saturated with the same old boy's club shite.

I wonder if this will be fast, slow, or what! I can't wait to see her perform live though, she's one of the best live vocalists in country, IMO.

We'll see. I'm nervous but you never know. I don't think Today is Your Day was a really great song though so maybe Faith can get herself another #1 if this is a solid tune.

Well today is your day wasn't really her comeback single since as you can see no album has even been announced yet. It was just released because of the show.

I just about died when I saw this article! I would've started the thread myself, but I'm too new, so I asked Kristin to.

Faith and Taylor both performing at the CMAs... If only Shania would too... To have all 3 of my absolute favorites performing would slay my existence. Too bad there's pretty much no chance of Shania performing.

I expect the album between December and February... She's either gonna go for those Christmas sales or wait a longer period of time so she can do a lot of promo. I'm personally hoping for sooner, rather than later!
