But does that give them an excuse to play with the emotions of the contestants and force the judges into a corner? After all, we're all human... one of those acts that went home could have gotten far if they kept the original format. It seemed to me like a move like that would hurt ratings rather than boost them.
They essentially forced the judges to send someone home even if they had no reason why that person should go home. At least with public voting it's because that person failed to connect strongly enough with the public...
