So this past Sunday I attended my first gay pride in Atlanta, GA and it was awesome. I was a bit skeptical at first because I didn't know what to expect, but I was really excited. We drove three hours to get to it and we watched the parade which was a blast, and then we walked around the park where they have vendors, merchandise, and performers, etc. It was SO much fun and I had a blast. A man stood in front of me and blocked my way until I answered his questions...he was down to **** and wanted to know if I was interested.
I declined but it actually felt great instead of awkward and uncomfortable. The group I was with came up to me after it happened and asked me all about it; it was the highlight of our day and we kept talking and laughing about it. They said they saw some guy in a bar staring intently at me but I didn't see him.
Also, Beverly McClellan from The Voice performed along with Jessie and the Toy Boys and a few other performers. I think Alexis Jordan and Wynter Gordon were there but I didn't see them perform. Beverly KILLED it with some Linda Perry and Janis Joplin, along with several original songs of her own off her upcoming album.
I was so sad and miserable when we left because I had such an unbelievably amazing time and I just wanted to stay. Just thought I would post about it...
Anyone been to a Pride festival, or more specifically did anyone go to the one this weekend? If so, share your experiences.
