With him creating songs like "Let Me Love You" "How Do I Breathe" "Crying Out For Me" "Music For Love", where do you see his current direction of music going right now (Break Up, My Bed, The Walls)? Does he still have it? Can he still deliver those good R&B tunes or is he done with the next album. If promoted right, will the next album be an hit or will it flop miserably like D.N.A.? If anything, can he be the one to save the state of Male R&B?
Strange you posted this when I'm listening to Without You haha. I only started to respect him because of Justin, I've never really taken a listen to his music. From what I've heard I enjoy it though, I don't think I've heard much of his R&B.
I was talking to my friend the other day about Usher completely crossing over to pop. Rnb isn't selling and he's doing whatever he can to remain relevant and keep up with the trends. I thought he did sell out, but now I realize that he's going to what's selling..and he's doing a good job at it.
But not many people can do R & B these days without sounding dated and lame. So I don't blame him for the switch up. I do think he just went too generic. David Guetta? Really? Dr. Luke is next Had he done a more adventurous dance record I think he would be less......annoying.
But honestly, what do you expect? He's keeping up with the times. R&B isn't "hot" like it was in the late 90s-early 00's.
At the end of the day you gotta do what you gotta do to get that check.
But it's not like he's completely done a turn around. 'Raymond v. Raymond' has some R&B on it. He just released the pop ones as singles.
So what if he released "OMG"? The album was predominantly R&B. In fact OMG was the ONLY E-Pop track on the album. & I think this only shows that he's versatile in terms of genres.
He still make GREAT R&B tracks. Mars v Venus, Pro Lover, Just Be You, Lay You Down, Lingerie, Love Em All etc
