So 2011 is almost over, and during this year we could witness a repeated phenomenon with the same intentions:
Release a "remix" (or commonly known in the projects as a "rih-mix") to get your song #1.
S&M, Till The World Ends, E.T., Last Friday Night, Moves Like Jagger, etc.
What do you think about this? Will this happen in 2012?
We know that all of these shitmixes were "smart" moves from the labels/records so songs could get to #01, but were they really necessary? COuld they be considered as "cheating"?
I don't think it's necessarily bad if the remix was released as the original single. But if it was a rushed one like S&M, LFN, or TTWE, then that is cheap.
If they "worked", there's no reason for the record labels to stop using this technique. (besides the criticism on the side)
I don't believe it'll go to the extremes come next year, but it'll definitely will be used.
Ridiculous: Yes
Sneaky: Yes
Cheating: In some form

But good for the fans I guess when done correctly. (TTWE.. although Ke$ha was unnecessary)
Unfortunately, it's not "cheating". But god, it's just so cheap, desperate and tacky. But for singles artists' I guess you have nothing to rely on other than #1s.
Ke$ha released a remix with B.o.B
OneRepublic released a remix with B.o.B
Dev released 2 remixes with Tinie Tempah & Flo Rida
Beyonce will release a remix with J. Cole
J-lo will release a remix with Pitbull.
