When you can cover that wide a spectrum of music, I'm pretty impressed.
I don't need to tell you how I feel about Gold Digger but I like just about every other song in that 45-21 region. I knew that's why I like you so much: Your taste in music is bonafide incredible. ^_^

Are you lost or incomplete?
Do you feel like a puzzle, you can't find your missing piece?
Tell me, how do you feel?
Well I feel like they're talking in a language I don't speak
And they're talking it to me.
--Obviously, X&Y got TONS of buzz this year. Perhaps more than any other album that was released. I'd say, I really enjoy about half of them, while the other half doesn't do much for me. I think "Speed of Sound" is decent, "Fix You" is amazing, I don't care what people say. "White Shadows", "Square One" and "What If" are all great. But from the first day the album came out, one track stood out. "Talk." From the guitar in the intro to the vocals to the lyrics, this song just grabbed me and never let go. I'm glad it's doing decent on the modern rock charts.
09. Matisyahu - King Without a Crown
Strip away the layers and reveal your soul
Got to give yourself up and then you become whole
You're a slave to yourself and you don't even know
You want to live the fast life but your brain moves slow
If you're trying to stay high then you're bound to stay low
You want God but you can't deflate your ego
If you're already there then there's nowhere to go
If you're cup's already full then its bound to overflow
--Matisyahu, probably my favorite new artist of the year. A latino Hassidic Jewish man who does reggae? What the hell? Well, simply, he's amazing. His band is incredible, their live cd is spectacular, his flow is amazing, the lyrics are so unique...and dammit, it's just some quality reggae music. If you haven't heard much from Matisyahu, check out this and "Chop 'Em Down" (my favorite), "Got No Water" and "Exaltation" among many others.
Baby when i used to love you
There's nothing that i wouldn't do
I went thru the fire for you, do anything you asked me to
But i'm tired of livin this lie
It's getting harder to justify
Realised that i just don't love you
Not like i used to
--This man's album is AMAZING. I'm rarely a fan of R&B, but his album absolutely blew me away. I love nearly all the songs on it...from the beats to his voice to the lyrics. Best of all is "Used To Love U." I remember when someone called him the Kanye West of R&B. Personally, I think that's an insult. He's much better than that. I loved this song pretty much all of 2005.
07. Beck - Girl
And I know I'm gonna steal her eye
She doesn't even know what's wrong
And I know I'm gonna make her die
Take her where her soul belongs
And I know I'm gonna steal her eye
Nothing that I would not try
--Beck is back. No doubt about that. "E-Pro" was a great comeback single, and then "Girl" both as a song and video made him bigger and better than ever. This song is undeniably fun and catchy, and the video is one of the best of the year. A huge favorite of mine over the summer for sure.
