Damn..something like 1 billion albums sold in 2000 to something like a little over 200 millions 10 years later.
In all honesty, I'd choose broadband penetration over huge record sales any day, and the current state of the music industry isn't going to change that. At any rate, they've found other commercial ways to bank off of artists without selling as much physical music.

I'm not sure if you're serious, but broadband penetration is the percentage of households that have a broadband internet connection. It has a sketchy definition, but generally it means the amount of households that have something faster than a dial-up 56 Kbps Internet connection.

thanks boo! so they are saying Piracy is going up as album sales go down? It makes sense.
I'm really torn over this issue. Sure, it sucks that music sales are going down, but there is much more at stake than a music industry that is finding ways to adapt. What's at stake is the freedom of the Internet. On top of that, yes, again, it sucks that sales are going down as piracy rises, but Avatar obliterated the records for most pirated movie in the months after its release, and we all know that didn't hinder its success. To some extent, I think artists and labels need to adapt to survive in such times. Franchises are worth way more than album sales, anyway.
