Zathura (Released November 11th, 2005) Starring: Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, Tim Robbins, Kristen Stewart, & Dax Shepard Simple Synopsis:
Walter (Josh Hutcherson) and Danny (Jonah Bobo) have a tough life living with divorced parents and their sister (Kristen Stewart). In this movie, The kids are with their father (Tim Robbins).
As I said, Walter and Danny have a tough life. As brothers, they don't get along very well and they are still very confused and looking for someone to blame for the divorce of their parents. But that's far from the plot. As you see in the previews of the movie, the boys find a game, just like in Jumanji. This time, it's called Zathura, and it takes place in outer space. Danny and Walter play the game with hesitation, trying not to get hurt. In one of the turns, a card in the game says 'Rescue The Lost Astronaut'. The astronaut that helps them make it out of the game and back to real life (hopefully) is played by Dax Shepard. Danny and Walter must battle zorgons and escape from meteor showers and all that fun little kiddy stuff. Will the kids make it home, or will they be stuck in the game forever?
What I really didn't like about this movie, is that it had really bad language that the little kids in the movie would say. Danny calls his brother a 'dick' in one scene. Maybe this is because of the fights their parents were having, but it just came out of nowhere and it hits you smack dab in the face. This may cause other five year olds that see this movie think it's okay to say it . I also didn't like that the boys' sister was SO mean! There is no reason that she couldn't get out of bed to help her little brothers. Her attitude was really disturbing. There was also a scene in which she thought she was in love with Dax Sheapard's character. It was VERY unneeded. But other than that, I like how the kids weren't in as much danger as Jumanji and it wasn't as confusing. But, in my opinion, it's still a good movie, and the language is nothing compared to Jumanji. So go see it if you want, I'm giving this movie 3 stars!
