Can Janet Jackson Ever Make a Huge Comeback?
I share my thoughts on if the debatable Queen of R&B-Pop Janet Jackson can ever make a true home-run comeback.P.S -I AM NOT A JANET STAN BUT I LIKE HER MUSIC AND AS A PERSON (And I do my research lol)
Back in the 90's she was undeniably the biggest female entertainer .Over 100million records sold,5 Grammys,33 Billboard Awards,Mtv Icon ETC.At that certain time not even Madonna could match her energy and innovations as an artist, and not even Michael could pass her on the charts. She had 18 consecutive top 10 hits (27 in total) and is still the ONLY artist to have 7 TOP 5 HITS from one album. She was riding high and had the world to her feet with her creative and amazing choreographed dance routines and sheer domination of the stage. No one could touch her. Then as everything seemed like it was perfect, the infamous Superbowl happened in 2004.Ever since the Superbowl her career has not been the same since.Radio was not playing her songs as much,Mtv abandoned her,and most of america was disgusted with her.Although it may seemed like she flopped .Both albums Damita Jo and 20.Y.O are certified platinum,so it ain't that bad.

n 2008 it seemed she was about to have that comeback everyone was waiting for.Feedback was a fresh dance cut that was destined for worldwide hit success, but never had it.It peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 ,being her biggest hit on the chart since "Someone to Call My Lover".Later on the album did bad but it did give her a #1 album, her first since "All For You ".The album could of done a lot of better but the promo was slow and the follow up single didn't get that much attention. She took a break, filmed 2 movies, but the biggest shock was probably that she was going back on tour. This would be the first tour since RockWit U tour which was cancelled because of SICKNESS(I personally do not believe a person like her would just quit unless necessary).
The Up Close and Personal tour, her most intimate tour is doing great so far.4 legs are finished, and she starts the next leg in 2 weeks. She is selling out everywhere ,and the tour is getting great reviews. She has already completed over 85 SHOWS worldwideNot only is she performing in intimate theaters, she is also selling out 3-4 nights of the same venue which is the size of a big arena put together.Although people seem to still love her;Is this tour enough to bring her back a little closer to where she should be in the current music industry?Sure a huge concert looks good on her resume, but does that mean people will buy her song on iTunes,or an album? I think it is possible.Although the music industry is full of ageism, with the right song her age wont even matter. When you are a legend,it doesn't matter what age you are,if the song is a hit,it will be a hit. Not only does the consumers need to do their part,Janet will have to work harder than before.Although she doesn't seem like the type to boast on her achievements, its time she shows off.Between 2009-Now,she has did more promotion and major award show performances then she has in years, that is a good sign. One more thing NO MORE LOW SINGING.I will not act like she is the greatest singer because she's not,but her vocals are beautiful. Not hard hitting, but soft, melodic emotional and AUDIBLE (although people say she only whispers.Listen to songs such as"Rhythm Nation,Again,Where Are You Now,Together Again,I Get Lonely ,What Can I Say").She just needs to work with producers who will push her and say "NONE OF THAT WHISPERING **** PUSH YOURSELF ".She can do it,her recent LIVE showings (yes she is starting to sing live a little more often) show that she can still sing and her regular vocals are not different. If JLO at 40 years old can get a worldwide #1 hit ,so can Janet. Its not even about getting a number one anymore, its about the quality of the music. She needs to start writing again,Discipline's writing was basic and a little immature for Janet.Although people say she has nothing left to prove, she also has something left to gain, a COMEBACK.It all depends on quality, timing, the image, and the promotion of the music and her.WHAT DO YALL THINK?

Jan's time as a musical force has passed. She needs to focus on cementing a respectable acting career.

Not reading all that, but her career simply hasn't been the same after the Superbowl incident, but I think if she goes back to her roots then yes she can with the right music, she has the talent to carry her. Her past latest albums like Discipline & Damita Joe weren't that great, pretty mediocre compared to her prior albums. I'm a big fan of Janet, her music is best when she has something to say (i.e. Control & Velvet Rope)
She's been through a lot after the passing of her brother, she could channel that into her music. She needs to create with Jimmy again, they create magic together. J.D. help **** up her career, but we won't get into that.

No she won't have a huge comeback, she might have a decent come back, no hit singles, but some nice album sales, she is too old now to make a come back, I know Cher was older, but she is Cher!!!

Sky, I love Jan to pieces but like I said, her time has passed. The title asked whether or not she will have a HUGE comeback not whether or not she can still make music.

it will be hard for her... she needs to ditch the oversexed antics and find something fresh like Madonna did with ray of Light. I don't know if she has it in her.
But it won't matter, she had an amazing career

i honestly feel she can do it.Not HUGE like the 90's but at least respectable comeback. No1 really hates her ,she still has that soft janet jackson voice so that will be good 4 radio .She just needs a good team, great promo, greater songs. lol anything can happen look at JLo ...that dam commercial playing every 30 seconds

2007- Present
Is Janet internationally known? Does she have a loyal fan-base overseas? Honestly, I think she's done in America. This is why it's important for artists to be established world-wide. She can continue being a world-wide force and sell records, without the help of America.

No I know she is not THAT old, but she is 45, it's difficult for older artist to get some airplay and relate to the digital market audience

If she couldn't do it with Feedback, she never will be able to.

Janet's next album will do well. Better than her last 3. People have warmed up to her again. The music has to be on point though. She needs to get back to the Janet everybody knows and loves. She honestly needs to reinvent herself and show everybody why she is the Janet ****ing Jackson.
Now, I don't think she'll have a huge comeback...but it'll be really good. Janet already had her time. She's been there done that.

Janet's music never disappoints me, personally, and I'm glad she left her previous label. I think she'll make a comeback in the future, yeah. Her music is always good regardless if it flops or not, though.
