Why male artists aren't as big as female artists?
We all know women are dominating the musical landscape right now. Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and the list could go on. With a refreshing wave not only of music, but innovation on their performances, style and lyrical themes. Women can show themselves as outlandish as they want, and their reign can last forever. They, somehow, have a unisex appeal, dominating facebook, twitter and so much other social webs. They are the ones dominating charts whether they are single or album ones. They have the most loyal fanbase out in the industry. And the foremost, they are dominating the scene globally. Just imagine if they joined forces to release a single and a video (regardless of what their fandom may think), how much it would smash?
Anyhow, this success is not seen on their male counterparts. Roughly we can say we hear more male artists often. And, who we would say are the ones dominating the male scene? to me, it seems they are all in the same place. Justin Bieber, to my disdain, may be dominating but just because he's a teen popstar, and he's amassing all he can from the little, innocent girls. Wanna watch him a some years later. Anyways, what male artist has a big fanbase, owns millions of followers in social webs, is meeting success with all his singles and albums, and has unisex appeal? IMO no one right now. How long we will stay without a big, pop male artist? When we will meet the male Rihanna/Katy/Britney/Beyoncé/Lady Gaga? Is there a reason why they can't be seen as "widely" successful? (Because I know that many of them are succesful, but just in one "brand")

Gender roles(which I detest) make female artistry freer and more enjoyable. It's mainly a phenomenon.

I've always been curious as to just how significant teenage girls are to Justin's fanbase. If they really take up a ridiculous amount of the chunk or not.

TBH thats only pop. Men dominate Rock and rap. I personally prefer female artist's because they have more distinctive voice, more intresting in terms of what they bring to performances and clothes they wear and I can relate to there music more usually.

Yeah, men dominate rap, rock, alternative, & more. The most even genre is r&b right now imo.

THE Male musicians most of their music is discriminatory and so cliche in the sense of style. They just act in one way in each music video for fear of being looked at as less masculine and if they try to change you have guys like JAY-Z dissing them. The interaction between fans and the stars is important and the humility lacks in most male musicians but Michael Jackson was the opposite he was sensitive and an easy guy whom you could relate to and gave all of his talent for shows and music videos and cared about all his fans and humankind. Male musicians need to decrease on the objectification of women and bashing of gays if they want to appeal to the bigger market.
