4-Day Estimates (Dec. 23 - 26)
#1 - King Kong - 31.4 million (-37.3%)
It's three day fell over 57%. Not too good for a film the industry hoped would have legs after it's soft opening. It's taken in $118.7 million so far, but much more worldwide.
#2 - Chronicles of Narnia - 30.1 million (-5.5%)
Unbelievable Christmas hold. Already well over $160 million US taken in, and the film keeps chugging.
#3 - Fun With Dick & Jane - 23.5 million ($7,600 PTA)
It's taken in over $31 million since Wednesday. A pretty solid Christmas opening for Jim Carrey.
#4 - Cheaper By The Dozen 2 - 14.7 million ($4,650 PTA)
Pretty soft since it's only taken in $20 million since Wednesday. That's what most of the industry was hoping at least for the 3-day. Keeping in mind the original took in over $27 million in it's first 3 days.
#5 - The Family Stone - 10.8 million (-13.3%)
Good hold. Over $30 million so far.
#6 - Memoirs Of A Geisha - 10.2 million ($6,593 PTA)
Adding 1,500 theatres this week, it's first weekend in expansion was extremely successfull. It's taken in $13.2 mil so far.
#7 - The Ringer - 8.4 million ($4,600 PTA)
Mediocre. Not bad.
#8 - Rumor Has It - 7.4 million ($2,650 PTA)
Off only 2 days. Not bad! Right in line with 'Derailed' for Jennifer Anniston.
#9 - Wolf Creek - 5.9 million ($3,400 PTA)
Surprisingly strong for only 2 days. Could be a cult hit.
#10 - Harry Potter 4 - 5.7 million (-3.9%)
A solid Christmas hold. It's eclipsed HP2 and HP3 and is now sitting pretty at over $262 million alone in the US.
#11 - Munich - 5.7 million ($10,730 PTA)
A solid start for the Steven Spielberg pic. Found a good audience on just over 530 screens.
#13 - The Producers - 3.4 million ($3,580 PTA)
Not bad for it's national expansion and for only 2 days. Now in 975 theatres.
#14 - Brokeback Mountain - 2.6 million ($12,140 PTA)
Went into 217 screens, over doubled last weekend, and saw it's PTA get slashed again huge. Whether it can expand successfully at a national level like 'Memoirs' has will be interesting to see. Still, it's taken in a solid $7.5 million.
#16 - Polar Express IMAX - 1.4 million ($20,800 PTA)
Been the big winner all Holiday season with it's solid PTA's and a cume standing at a sensational $8.0 million.
