I say GaGa takes one copy of her new album and drops it at the post office one day with a note that says "DELIVER ONE TO EVERY SINGLE MAILBOX YOU FIND"
I think they should totally go for it. this is the future! (though they sell well even in today's economy, 7.2m in 3 months is pretty impressive)
He's floating a trial ballon to see the reactions generated. Not the first time Gaga's camp has said this. The record companies will not allow it. They would refuse to release or distribute it. Gaga would need to self distribute. The group Radiohead tried something similiar a few years ago.Radiohead has their own record company, production and distribution system via their on-line website. They offered "pay what you think the music is worth" CD. Pay nothing or what you wanted to pay. Sales analysis indicated that a large percentage of people opted to pay nothing for brand new music. I paid $1.50.
