CLSA Investors’ Forum in Hong Kong today
CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets (‘CLSA’), opens the 18th CLSA Investors’ Forum in Hong Kong today. CLSA says it will host a record 1700 institutional investors from 40 countries and 600 senior executives from more than 200 listed Asian, Australian and American companies, a 20% increase on 2010.
Addressing delegates, CLSA Chairman and CEO Jonathan Slone said: “For the third year running, the CLSA Investors’ Forum is being held in the context of an uncertain global economy and a rapidly changing environment for risk assets. The underlying imbalances that CLSA has addressed in reports since mid-2008 remain and have yet to be addressed by governments and central banks. Until they are, we should expect to live with periods of calm followed by periods of extreme volatility.”
Despite the current market uncertainty, Asia’s growth story remains intact and the global paradigm shift continues, demanding clear insights into the current and future drivers of Asian growth. To that end, the capacity of the Forum has been expanded to accommodate an additional 400 delegates at the five-day, multi-meeting conference which offers 200 hours of presentations and 3000 private meetings between investors and corporations.
Academy Award winner, actor, director, screenplay writer and Sudan activist George Clooney headlines 40 keynote and specialist speakers, including the president of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Dr Jose Ramos-Horta, Harvard University professor Michael Sandel, Stanford University professor Ian Morris and CNN security analyst Peter Bergen.
Together with presentations from 115 corporations and 40 CLSA analysts, including Asia’s No.1 equity strategist Christopher Wood and leading regional economist Eric Fishwick, the CLSA Investors’ Forum provides perspectives on commodities, consumerism, demographics, economics, energy, the environment, finance, geopolitics, health, innovation, technology, telecoms and transport.
CLSA gala party features multi-Grammy award-winning female vocalist Christina Aguilera in a night of ‘tease’ inspired music and dance on Thursday, 22 September.
