I won't really get into TD's nomination, but those GaGa nominations were different.
The Fame was Lady GaGa's breakthrough album, and she was everywhere. She wasn't eligible for BNA due to a technicality, so they had to give her those nominations for a job well done throughout the year.
The Fame Monster was just riding that wave.
Born This Way isn't really riding off anything. Plus, they may feel that a third consecutive nomination for GaGa would be "too much" - in a "spread the wealth" kinda way. I just don't feel like it's "her" year. I wouldn't be surprised if she is nominated, but if she's not, I can't say that I'm surprised.
