So one of my friends was telling me about a new show about the making of a musical production which has Debra Messing in it, and is backed by Steven Spielberg as well. It was the first I had heard of the show so I looked up the promo for it.
I have to say the show looks promising, but as everyone knows...shows on NBC don't last (save for a select few). The show doesn't look too generic unlike some of the other new shows NBC is putting out.
Of course people are already comparing it to Glee solely because it is a show involving music, which is ridiculous. It's not like they are going to be marketing soundtracks or singles from the show and it's about the production side of a musical. I think it could be interesting but only time (and ratings) will tell.
What are your thoughts? And have you even heard of this show before?
It won't do Glee numbers, but I think it will perform well for the network. Especially, since it's airing after "The Voice"
I don't think much of anything on NBC does Glee numbers I hate it we have to wait until next year for this show, but I have plenty of other shows to tide me over until then.
I have been shaking and crying for this show to come out literally since last spring when the first preview came out. Megan Hilty is one of my favorite theatre actresses, Katharine McPhee is amazing and gorgeous, Anjelica Houston and Debra Messing are flawless. Just...can't even deal
I think it definitely has an audience, and I am extremely excited to see Katharine in the spotlight! She really is beautiful and talented, and she deserved to win Idol over Taylor...
That looked good. I'm reserving a little judgment on the acting abilities of
Katharine McPhee, but the show has an original premise and sounds
promising. Looking forward to seeing what it's all about.
And of course they will be selling iTunes singles.
That's just the way advertising has evolved.

I know little to nothing about theatre but something about this show has already grabbed my attention. Debra Messing and Anjelica Houston I remember Katharine McPhee from AI but I didn't watch that season so I know virtually nothing about her. She's gorgeous and so is Megan Hilty.
The show looks VERY promising. All these music-oriented shows coming out is gonna be great as long as they are well-written with a great ensemble cast, and as long as they don't turn them into sitcoms. I love me some dramatic shows. While (some) sitcoms are hilarious others can just

Megan is GORGEOUS, extremely entertaining, and her voice has this amazing tone and quality to it. She can go low, and hit near whistle notes. They had better ****ing utilize her properly!!

Don't know who Megan is -- don't care; she's not as pretty
as Katharine, thus she won't be utilized properly. She will
be downplayed to give the pretty one the spotlight
and that's show business and the harsh truth.
