Discussion: Final Fantasy X HD Announced for PS3

At Sony’s 2011 Tokyo Game Show press Conference, Square Enix Executive Shinji Hashimoto announced that Final Fantasy X HD will be released on both the PS Vita and PlayStation 3 game consoles.

The HD upgrade has been described as a “special 10th anniversary production” to honor the original. Considering the original debuted in 2001 you would expect a 2011 release. Unfortunately, neither a date or footage has been released.

It has been said that the Vita and PS3 versions should look comparable. Hopefully, this will lead to more Final Fantasy re-releases. *cough* VII *cough*

To the FFVII fan***s: They will never remake it. Get over it. it would cost way too much to be profitable and Numora himself stated that if they used the FFXIII engine it would take 10+ years to make. They would basically be building the game from the ground up because the original is so old that they can't salvage any of it to turn it into something fun. ~~Besides, the game isn't that great anyways~~

If it wasn't that great, then why are the characters so present in other media (like Kingdom Hearts), and why has it inspired a spin-off film and prequel video game? Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith, Tifa, etc. are among the MOST memorable FF characters ever... and the storyline also helped make it a great game. Maybe when compared to modern games the controls and graphics aren't up to par, but at the time of release it was an incredibly innovative game. To judge it based on today's standards is unfair.
