Legendary diva Mariah Carey has reached out to aspiring producers and songwriters for her upcoming new album. The singer’s label has partnered with an industry A&R agency for the latest proposition. The 41-year-old usually enlists her standard big name producers to provide her with the chart hits but this time, the mother of two appears keen to take on a brand new strategy for the anticipated project.
I say good for her. While The-Dream has managed to deliver massive global hits for Rihanna and Beyonce (‘Umbrella’, ‘Single Ladies’), it does not mean his work will click with every artist. For example, his play on words was so out of place on a Mariah Carey record. Mimi Dearest was singing ‘words’ you would not normally hear her say and in the process, we ended up with a cliched album derivative of the work heard on his OWN albums. I am very excited about the new MC album and I am even more excited she is taking on a refreshing approach with her music. Not only that, she is giving aspiring talent the big break they deserve.
