A.Nicki Minaj's image is entirely genuine to the person that Onika Maraj is
B.Nicki's career/fashion choices don't closely mirror any other artists' careers/fahion choices and
C.Nicki isn't dressing this way in order to grab attention

My point is that Nicki's outfits and multiple alter egos are a gimmick, but that they aren't fake. She's using a part of her personality and exaggerating it for attention. No shame in that, all stars do that. Her music is not pop; it's very much hip-hop. She only has to do the pop music to cater to a fanbase she gained through all the features she did and continues to do. I'm sure she'll take a grittier image next era, and that she'll continue to go down the hip-hop route. This is all a starting point. And I'm also saying she's not a Gaga copy.

Oh, so when Gaga does things like this, it's "humorous" and "fun", but when Nicki does crazy Harajuku outfits, it's "weird" and we're all supposed to ask "what's wrong with Nicki"?

Well, she has only had one major pop hit thus far, so I don't even think she's fully in yet. The thing that's helping her is that she is the only female rap artist doing it right now, so some pop support is there. I don't think she will ever be a huge pop artist, regardless of image. Female rappers tend to get a few mainstream hits, but their success is never up there with their male counterparts or pop star peers.

She's always looked crazy, though.
