Should 9/11 be a holiday? Some people think it should. what do you think?

I'm sorry to those who do and to those who lost family in the attack, but I don't want it to. When I think of holidays I think of positive feels, not negative. With that being said. even if it doesn't, it will be a unofficial day for a long time.

Why on earth would you CELEBRATE something so tragic and horrifying? If 9-11 gets a holiday then we'll end up getting more holidays for colombine and a bunch of other tragedies and before you know it holidays will be about mourning instead of enjoying life and having fun.

I think it should be kept as a day to remember what happened. Last night i heard people doing fireworks and I got very offended. I don't like the idea of celebrating this at all thats inhumane.

Not exactly a celebration, but mpre to keep it as a day of silence & peace, a relaxing day, not too much hustle & bustle. Something calm, of course, with extremely tight security.

This. While I agree we should have a day of remembrance, it should NEVER become a federal holiday. I'm sure that the last thing anybody who saw it happen wants is for kids 25 years from now to look at it as just a day when there's no school...

Memorial Day and Veteran's Day are federal holidays, and the last I checked the stories behind those holidays aren't exactly the most cheerful. Hell, Memorial Day weekend has now become synonymous with BBQ blowouts.

9/11 would simply be a day of remembrance, that's all. I don't think anyone in their right mind would treat such an occasion like the 4th of July or Christmas. Especially when it's still so fresh in our minds, it's not something we're gonna shrug at and overlook the significance anytime soon.

Those days are about the soldiers though who were/are protecting the US. By celebrating those days, we are paying homage and thanks to those for offering their lives to protect us.

There is NOTHING to celebrate about 9/11. As I see it 9/11 can be just like the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. Not a holiday, but a day that everyone will know because of the terrible actions that happened, or known as you said day of remembrance.
