Memorial Day and Veteran's Day are federal holidays, and the last I checked the stories behind those holidays aren't exactly the most cheerful. Hell, Memorial Day weekend has now become synonymous with BBQ blowouts.
9/11 would simply be a day of remembrance, that's all. I don't think anyone in their right mind would treat such an occasion like the 4th of July or Christmas. Especially when it's still so fresh in our minds, it's not something we're gonna shrug at and overlook the significance anytime soon.
