"I haven't stopped in years," Stefani says. "I'm burnt. I literally went from the Rock Steady tour with No Doubt into the studio, like the week we got off. Then it was studio torture making this record. Then we went on the greatest hits tour after that. Then I put my album out and here we are." Stefani had originally planned to knock out a second solo album after the end of the tour, fired up by a productive recording session in Miami with Pharrell Williams that turned out a handful of new tracks, including "Orange County Girl," "Breaking Up," and "Candyland." But she's changed her mind. "I had a fantasy about it but I'm not doing it," she says. "I have a really good record that I could put out. But I decided it's more important that I take a nap."
WHY DO ARTIST'S DO THAT?!
Why the hell to Artist's like Gwen talk about stuff they have been working on and how it's coming out soon.....and then , oh - nevermind. "It's really good material and the songs are hot - but I don't really feel like it". Thanks alot Gwen. And from the live clips of Orange Country Girl and Wind Up I have heard - the songs would have been HITS.
Other artists who have done the same:
Beyonce - Dangerously in Love 2
Britney - Original Doll
I was actually looking forward to her next album as well, pity. Seems like a lot of singers these days constantly push back their releases or cancelling them, they take their fans for a ride.
I agree that it's a good idea for her to rest, it has been years. But then again, if it's something really good I would think it would be good to release it and do the promotion but then postpone a tour since it might not have so much potential later on - but then again if it's seriously good material it should be somewhat timeless, that's an 'if' though.
But anyway it's her call. I'm not keen on her solo stuff so far personally, I preferred her with No Doubt.
Yea, I mean she would hardly due press for it, probably like one single only...and the songs she is doing on tour from the CD dont sound too hot IMO. B-side like stuff....
I think it's good that she's done. It was an awesome era in my opinion. But, yay No doubt.
No, she'll burn herself out and burn out the public to her music.
She needs to come back with No Doubt.
The only reason she even toured with this album is because it did so much better than her record label expected. Or else she'd already be out of the headlines.
