Does anyone else think that Foster the People have a chance at BNA, ROTY and SOTY for "Pumped Up Kicks"? The grammys always like to include a bit of indie in their lineup, and there doesn't appear to be any other indie bait in the GF.

Even though FTP n PUK r amazing I still think Adele's gonna sweep away. The success she's had this year is absolutely untouchable. It's her year hands down. SOTY, ROTY, AOTY, Pop Solo Performance and Pop Vocal Album are hers no questions asked. FTP will def get BNA n 1 in Pop or Alternative depending on where their label decides to submit them.

Well, I don't think he meant sweep. I think he was just talking about nominations. There are no notable indie acts to nominate, so their chances of getting in might be solid.

Foster the People are now definite contenders for BNA and ROTY ("Pumped Up Kicks" does not strike me as very SOTY-friendly track); they're peaking at just the right time for nominations. But without a follow-up hit, any wins will be much more difficult.

I think they could win BNA without another big hit.

Of course. And I think if the Grammys happened today, "Pumped Up Kicks" would be a huge upset contender for ROTY. But the ceremony is six months from now, and if they don't have anything to keep themselves in voters' minds until then, Foster the People could struggle to win any major awards that it gets nominated for. (The rock categories are an entirely different story, of which they are probably now the easy frontrunner.)

I think they will easily get SNL and maybe AMA slots. I don't think they will fall off the radar now until the Grammys. I don't think they have a chance at winning ROTY; PUK just doesn't have that ROTY sound the voters usually go for.

As for Adele, I think her biggest competition might be Tony Bennett, who I'm hoping gets snubbed of big nominations. It's tired rewarding these same old folks over contemporary acts.
