I don't see it happening anytime soon, to be honest. We've been hearing this for years that they're considering ending it, and then the court date arrives and nothing happens.

Basically the legal system treats you as if you were still an under-18. Your guardians regain their rights and responsibilities over you that they lost when you turned 18 or 21.

In simple terms, Britney's father Jamie is her legal guardian. It's similar to what minors deal with legally with their parents. Her father is in charge of her money, well-being, etc. She's been under a conservatorship since the beginning of 2008 after her hospital visit. She has had to follow a set of rules and guidelines over the years, and isn't free to do whatever she wants. Typically adults are placed under a conservatorship once they are deemed unable to care for themselves.

We heard this since 2009. I'll just wait for it to happen. Though today, I don't think the conservatorship is what it used to be. Now it's just there, so it's practically lifted. If and when it is lifted, Britney will probably hire financial advisors and people to help her with the business aspects anyway, so yeah.

Britney is definitely ready. She is much more responsible now.

Someone should sign LiLo up for a conservatorship.

I agree, but the problem is that Lindsay wasn't lucky enough to have parents like Britney. Dina and Michael would both be terrible conservators.

So Britney has been and still is being treated like a minor? Wow. Well she seems happy and well-together, she should be able to be an "adult" now. What about her kids? Is their guardian Jamie as well?

Yes, but it was for her own good. She could have ended up like Amy Winehouse, had her parents and the justice system not stepped up to save her. She even credits her father (as you can see in the article) with saving her life. But I can tell that the conservatorship is hard on her, especially in the beginning. She has a curfew and whatnot, and isn't allowed to go out and party like most adults. But again, it was for her own good.

She does seem much better off now than she has in many years. She doesn't have custody of her kids, though. It's shared custody with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. But in the beginning, she had zero custody and zero visitation rights, meaning Kevin had full custody for a little while. She had to earn visitation rights and whatnot.

Who exactly would take responibitly for LiLo's life? Her parents lives are a mess as well.
