Deftones have chatted about why they decided to cover Katy Perry's 'Firework' at their recent shows.
Speaking exclusively to NME Video backstage at Reading Festival, lead singer Chino Moreno said:

Stephen [Carpenter, guitar] loves Katy Perry. We did it for him.He's seriously embedded all her songs into our brains. He always has music on for the van rides. So I've heard almost every Katy Perry song a million times. Just for him I threw it into one of our songs one day, sort of made everyone chuckle, it's fun, I like the song.
The metal community has a general reputation for being incredibly closed-minded to any form of pop music, so these guys covering Katy Perry makes them pretty cool in my eyes.
