RIP Baby Girl Aaliyah! My Princess!!!
I still remember that Sunday morning when my mom told me that Aaliyah had passed away. I couldn't believe it! She was and is the only woman I will even stan for! Her music gave me life! I'm so happy that after ten years she is still remembered and more and more people are finding out about her music. She was one in million.
I can't believe it's already been 10 years since Aaliyah's death. I still vividly remember when I heard the news: we were cleaning up after my sister's birthday party. The shock and sadness that I felt remain surprisingly potent memories as well. It's weird to think how quickly life passes and the things that stick with us over time. I can only imagine the amazing music that she was never able to give us...
Hard to believe it's been ten years. I remember that I was on my computer at the time and watching MTV when they broke in with breaking news. I vividly remember thinking, "Oh great, something bad has happened. What happened now?" Little did I know that one of the rising stars in R&B (hell, one of the biggest R&B stars period) had just died. I remember rushing over to ATRL to comment about the situation. I remember being absolutely stunned (as was everyone else who was posting on ATRL at the time). I wasn't even one of her biggest fans, but I felt such sorrow that we had lost someone so talented and so young.
I mean, geez, it's been TEN YEARS. It almost feels as if it happened yesterday.
Her music will always live on. She will always be my favorite artist.
