Everyone knows what Superman from the comics looks like, but lately we’ve been able to get a peek at how Henry Cavill will be portraying him in “Man of Steel.”
Right on the heels of Cavill's Superman reveal comes pictures of Antje Traue as Faora and Michael Shannon as the villain Zod -- and what we can’t see in his costume right now might be very telling as to what we will be able to see eventually.
Superhero Hype has posted three new set photos of Cavill in full costume . . . except that he’s missing his patented red underwear. Does that mean that the red tighties will not be appearing in this movie, as part of a way to make this Superman different from the others and to keep in line with DC’s relaunch?
If a newly created comic book character were to be given underwear on the outside of his clothing today, odds are it might strike us as funny-looking. But this is the image we’re used to seeing of Superman, and while it may only be a small difference in the overall costume, there is bound to be at least some controversy over changes in superhero clothes. Remember the whole Wonder Woman hoopla, for example?
We also have new photos over at Latino Review that show both Cavill and Michael Shannon. Cavill is mostly blocked off, so you have some better luck seeing Shannon. If you think his outfit is so absurd-looking it shouldn’t look like that on the big screen, you’re right. He’s wearing a motion-capture suit, much like "Green Lantern" put Ryan Reynolds in a mo-cap costume. In fact, did you notice another man in the same type outfit in the pictures from Superhero Hype? Very interesting...
Looks like Batman and a setup for Martian Manhunter's CEG.
I heard they are amping up for Justice League which will start with "The Dark Night," "The Man of Steel" and the "Princess of the Amazons" (Wonder Woman)...
