I think Madonna's camp should keep their mouth shut about Gaga. I know nothing bad was said here, but talking about Gaga makes it seem like they're using Gaga for press. IMO.
What I like about Gaga is that she works her ass off for everything she has because it's what she believes in. All of her "publicity stunts" are always directly connected to her work or activism.
Seeing the reaction of most of the monsters to this comment, even when it's a compliment... Liz is just talking about how hard she's working, shows how insecure and sensitive they are. I wouldn't expect less when Gaga herself is that way.

This isn't even an insult, though I won't pick on the monsters because I know every other stanbase would be having the same reaction had Britney's/Rihanna's/Beyonce's name been mentioned instead of Gaga's.
Liz is absolutely right, the pop stars that are most successful right now are doing 5-10 times more promotion than Madonna was doing in her prime. It's not that they're desperate, it's just that there are more bases to cover, more methods to reach the fans, more opportunities for performance, and so forth. If anything, this is a compliment to the artists who put in the effort to promote the way it has to be done in 2011. We've seen what happens to pop stars who ditch the promo efforts after a week; their albums don't sell for ****.
