Katy Perry has had an amazing year. Exactly one year ago her second studio album, Teenage Dream was released. The album has spawned five singles, all of which have achieved massive chart success. Lead single "California Gurls" featuring Snoop Dogg, "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T." featuring Kanye West, and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", have all become international hits, each peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topping the charts in other countries.
According to Nielsen Soundscan the five singles combined have scanned nearly 20.2 million units and all the tracks on the album have scanned 20.9 million units in the US.
Teenage Dream the milestone gives Katy Perry the title of the only woman in the 53-year history of Billboard to have five songs from the same album at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
The album proved to be an international success, debuting #1 on the biggest international markets, selling 4 million copies worldwide, and 1,7 million copies in the US.
At the 53rd Grammy Awards, the album and its singles were nominated 4 times, inlcuding a nomination for the Album of the Year, also its videos were nominated 10 times at the 2011 Video Music Award.
The album and its singles proved to be a huge financial success, Katy has pocketed as much as $44m in royalties from the album alone.
