I prefer Katy Perry. I've never really been a big Elvis fan and I believe he is extremely overrated as well.

So? Just because he has hits, doesn't make him better than anyone (specifically, newcomers).

I hate how people here when you compare old artists (from the 50s-80s), they're automatically better than all new comers, and they stand no chance.

It's like me saying "Ballads: Vanessa William's Save The Best For Last (90s #1 hit) vs. Katy Perry's #1 Firework", are all y'all going to be like "how can you compare a legend to katy!!!!!" uh HELL no.

First of all let me say this: a poll of opinion is never going to have a definitive answer. So when you tryna make a poll to demean those who are against popular belief, you're wrong. Not everyone is a fan of prehistoric music from the past. I, for one, was never into Michael, Whitney, Elvis, whatever. So, in that case I voted for Katy's hits even though I'm NO WHERE close to being a huge fan of Katy. I would barely even call myself a fan of hers. This whole idea of "Oh, everyone says they like Elvis' music, so I'm going to say I like it, and if someone doesn't like it, then they're stupid" is RIDICULOUS. You're not better than anyone for saying you like Michael's music, and they're no less than you for preferring Katy. Even worse, when the poll is asking for an OPINION. And you feel like you have the right to call someone out for their opinion, their honest preference? Gurl, bye bye bye bye bye. Especially with this poll where you ask such a vague question as "Who's better?" and expect everyone and their momma to vote for Elvis. No. Expect a unanimous vote like that when you ask a specific, fact-based question like "Who's more respected: Katy or Elvis?" But to do this, and then say "Don't try nothing cute and ask me what you mean by Who's better." Well, when you asked who's better, I'ma take that as who's music do I like better. So my vote goes to KATY, and you can try to wrap your head, and dissect my opinion all you want, but that's it.

TBH, the only opinion I respect out of those who voted Katy was GeoKing. At least he had the guts to say he thinks Elvis is overrated, and such. That means he at least listened to both artists BEFORE making a decision

This poll isn't to troll, isn't to get everyone voting Elvis, or isn't for me to bash those who are voting Katy. It's to see where stanning goes wrong. The other two who voted Katy are an example of stanning gone wrong. Whether they stan for Katy or not, to have the audacity to vote Katy WITHOUT having any knowledge of Elvis' music is exactly what I'm talking about. You're voting for your favorite of the two just because, and you're not taking into account both artists equally. These are the type of people who ruin polls, people who vote for their fav, even if the other choice might be better than their fave's choice. I made this poll to discover the stanners, and I found two prime suspects we shouldn't trust opinions with now

And how do you know the 5 people who voted Katy haven't heard Elvis' music? I've heard it. In fact, my parents are such huge fans that I can name more Elvis songs than I can Katy songs. But I just don't caree for his music. It's not my cup of tea. So I voted Katy. I'm not even a Katy stan, like I said, I didn't even want the bitch to get a number 1 with CG, much less TD, FW, ET & LFN.

I agree with this, 100%. I remember when Lady GaGa came into the scene, and people would make "Britney vs. Lady GaGa" comparisons, and I would automatically be like "HOW COULD YOU COMPARE GAGA TO THE QUEEN, BRITNEY IS BETTER, ETC NEXT". It wasn't until the end of The Fame era that I discovered Lady GaGa's album is actually amazing. Also did the same with Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj, I automatically would vote/stand up for Lil Kim, even though I didn't know one song by her (). But the fact that she was in the game longer than Nicki, I voted for her. But after listening to Nicki's album, I'm now a fan of hers.

And I agree with you on the prehistoric music. I ain't no fan of Michael, Beatles, Elvis, Janet, Madonna, etc (except for their newer stuff "Feedback", "4 Minutes"). It's like me and old movies, I can't watch black and white films, doesn't matter how legendary they are - The Godfather series, Psycho, I can't watch any of that.

well in my opinion elvis is better because i think he has more talent and i have listened to his music before and i think it's better than katy's no hating just telling my opinion

You're obviously not into prehistoric music, so it's pretty much obvious you haven't listened to more than a few songs, if you listened to Presely at all
