Cheryl Cole reportedly considered trying to befriend Britney Spears, when she had her public meltdown a few years ago.
The former Girls Aloud singer was just hitting the big time on The X Factor, when Brit shaved her head and went into a downward spiral and Cole’s former minder Craig has claimed that she considered trying to step in and help her through her troubled time.
The Sunday Mirror quotes him as saying:
“She used to talk about Britney Spears. She kept saying she wanted to help Britney – that she thought she could become like a big sister to her and make her normal again after all her crazy behaviour.”
However, Cheryl was not so keen to meet ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker Lady Gaga, as she didn’t approve of her provocative stage routines and outlandish comments.
The source added
“She had a thing about Lady Gaga too. She loves Lady Gaga’s music but disapproved of her stage show. She’s quite shy and not that comfortable with overly sexual behaviour. She’s very proper and ladylike.”
Cheryl recently tried to crack America by acting as a judge on the new X Fcator series, however she has since been sacked, reportedly reunited with her ex-husband Ashley Cole and is keeping a very low profile.
Cheryl reportedly often told Craig that she hated feeling like a “prisoner” in her showbiz life and seriously considered leaving her career behind her and retreating from it all.
The source added: “Cheryl kept saying she wanted to get out of showbusiness. She said she had enough of being a prisoner in her hotel room – that was a phrase she used a lot.
“She said wanted to be a normal person again. But at the same time she was very keen to crack it in America – as though she was torn between the two.”
