Truth. And even further, there's no comparison to discovering a new video by randomly turning on the TV and seeing it for the first time. That's how I discovered Regina Spektor (turning on the TV and seeing "Fidelity" on VH1), and since then I've always felt a very special connection to her music that is different from the one I feel towards those artists I met through YouTube. I can't quite explain it...
However, I gotta say I agree. Fewer and fewer people are tuning in to watch music videos and music-related programming, so MTV's just adapting to the (sad) times of reality and competition TV...
Oh, and for someone who suggested MTV3: Technically we already have Tr3s (which used to be MTV Tr3s) in the U.S., so it'd have to be MTV4
