Perhaps this shows how insecure people are about movies where the characters we're supposed to bond with are actual realistic CGI animals rather than cartoon animals... Many of you had no trouble bonding with Nemo, Simba (The Lion King), the penguins in Happy Feet, etc. What's the problem now...? Are we incapable of processing a serious storyline involving non-human characters?
In life, especially with all the media available to choose from today, it's easy for us to try to justify our half-assed/poorly formed judgments, but my advice is: Sometimes you just have to take a chance and try something new, even if you're ready to assume it's going to be crap. You might find yourself pleasantly surprised.

It wasn't because of the concept of the movie.
It was because it's yet another reboot of a franchise that was already rebooted just 10 years ago.
And the trailer just looked plain weak, and not b/c of the concept.
