I've been listening to a lot of Nicki's old songs/mixtapes and viewing her videos from her Pre-Pink Friday days. She started off collaborating with Trina, the Young Money crew, and now she's doing collabs with David Guetta, Britney, Rihanna, etc. Today she stated she wants to work with Madonna, which is odd for a rapper to say. (Except Lil Wayne )
Do you feel like Nicki's become more of a Pop artist than Rapper? In example, Super Bass, which is cute and the video is has a lot of "California Gurlz" style imagery. Discuss Barbies.
I don't mean this in a negative way, I love Nicki. I'm just wondering.

She's definitely more commercial and pop and I honestly think that's factored into her successes, especially with Pink Friday and Super Bass. I like Nicki so I don't mean it in a negative way, but she's not a rapper compared to the likes of Trina, Eve, or, dare I say it, Lil' Kim. You get glimpses of "Old Nicki" on Pink Friday, but not much. I like her music, but I appreciated her old music and mixtapes more. They were more real and raw.

Listen, Nicki is a highly manufactured POP STAR, I can't with her stans claiming she's a legit rapper, and no shade because I'm a causal fan. But 'Pink Friday' was a POP album with hip-hop influences, nothing more or less, and it doesn't have **** on Lil'Kim's debut album, Kim didn't have to sell out for mainstream appeal like Nicki did.
And I wish someone would tell me other wise.

she becoming to pop to me and I dont like it . all the other female rappers stayed within their music genre. I guess she just switching it up a bit; I wish she can go back to the music she did before Pink Friday was released

That's what she has to do to appeal to the white audience.

If she stuck to what was hot in the 90's, she would be nowhere on your maps. Evolution people. Get into it Look @ Lil Wayne and releasing a song like HTL. He, like Nicki, knows what mainstream wants. Nicki still caters to her hip-hop fans. She was a hip-hop staple for a bit, now she's a pop staple deal with it. She's universal. She will continue to cater to both. Wait for her second album before you say she's completely abandoned her roots.

she doesnt have to do that . lil kim and missy elliot and some of the other female rappers had an amount of white audience but more was geared towards urban.

Unfortunately everyone that wants to have success nowadays needs to mix it up with Pop, if you think Katy wasn't exactly pop when she started, neither was Rihanna nor Beyoncé (altho she came back with to her roots with '4' which I admire). Even rock artists need to mix their rock with pop, the artists have to be very limited nowadays because that's what the public likes so I don't blame her at all.

What true rappers give a damn about appealing to the white audience? Kanye and Jay's music is more commercial, but I feel like they still stay true to the rap genre and themselves. Nicki has not. I was watching a special on her the other day and how she went to a performing arts school. It all makes sense to me now. It's like she's literally playing a role. She admits to playing roles throughout her songs, but I mean overall Nicki, to me, has become a big ass act. Will Onika Miraj please stand up. I do like her, casual fan, LOVE Pink Friday, but you can't be claiming your one of the baddest rappers and talking **** to Lil Kim and you don't even make rap music. Kim did everything she did with real rap music.

She gave ya'll urban with Massive Attack, and you didn't respond.
Every artist needs to mix pop into their music, just as pop artists in the mid 2000s had to mix in urban music when urban music was hot (I'm A Slave 4 U anyone?).
All of Pink Friday is pop-ish, and that's why it's so successful....however, she can go hard -- (i.e. Monster).
Overall, in the words of Jay-Z:
"*****s want my old ****, buy the old album."

I want the old, go-hard rap Nicki back, the one I used to stan for; not a pampered pop princess!
