Just a thought, I'm sensing A&M/Octone have a plan laid down for MLJ. I mean it's falling nicely into place thus far. It's back at Top 5 on iTunes without a video. Another performance tomorrow and rumors of music video dropping either this week or within next week. Radio AI is increasing at a 1.3-1.5M AI a day. It will clear 30M AI by tomorrow. Granted it won't re-peak this charting week, could it potentially go for a shot at #1 on BB Hot 100 on the charting week after this one? If indeed the music video is dropping, I see no reason why MLJ won't go back to #1 on iTunes by next week. But I'm guessing more of a Top 3 peak.

I'm glad a lot of Rihanna fans find the S&M Remix tacky like myself. I wish it had never happened. The only last minute remix I use is Till the World Ends because it's actually better than the original, but I still completely dislike the method.

I'm always a supporter of promo, & almost all types. The E.T. remix was handled flawlessly & it was not tacky at all, it was clever. The reason I dislike last-minute remixes now is because it's becoming extremely overdone & the song loses respect & quality (since last-minute remixes are usually awkwardly done, rushed & choppy like S&M).

I understand it's a form of promo but the method is my least favorite form of it, something Capitol is a master at, but I wish they would leave LFN alone. Do a simple discount or get her to perform on a show or three. Depending on the impact on sales that could be all it takes to get it to #1. It deserves/d to go #1, it's one of my favorite songs by her.

Remixes are and have been used in hip-hop and r&b since I can remember, now its being used by mainstream pop acts to give the song extra pushes, if it sounds good that's really all that shud matter

I do not think the song is deserving of a #1 and mush less now with the remix but then again thats just an opinion.

However i completely agree with your stand on the s&m remix. It was rushed and you could tell by the quality of the song. Its longevity is a testament to that. How i wished she would have promoted it and settled for the outcome but oh well we got our #1.

I hope this does not become a trend if it already isn't

Those remixes couldn't be that good if they dropped like a rock after two weeks. I'd seriously laugh if Billboard changes its remix rule or make one at the last minute.

I don't get Katy though. She has promoted every other song out there. Why isn't she promoting on some show when the song is so close to #1? She doesn't need to remix the song YET; she can just perform it somewhere and BAM! But she's releasing a disposable remix with Rebecca Black (I know it will be disposable ). The charts are becoming more of a joke now. I didn't think any form of chart manipulation could get any worse than repression.

And yes it's good that Interscope didn't lower themselves to tacky last-minute remixes however that doesn't mean that if they had thought of the idea that they wouldn't have done it.
