Poor father, it must really hard to believe your son is gone now for something that dumb.
Anyway, i've had a couple of times in which i've been sat in front of my computer for quite a long time (due to gaming or other ocasions where i had to finish a software in a deadline and i was a little behind), but usually in between i took breaks. And also after a continous amount of hours, i start getting aches in my wrists, or legs. When aches appear, you know your body urges you to take a break.
12 hours isn't really that long of a time. I mean, it's a long time to sit and play video games, but I've easily done some 6 hour marathons with The Sims 3, and generally I don't even realize how much time has passed.

The Sims seriously sucks you into some sort of time vortex. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at the clock and thought I was dreaming because so much time had passed.
I'm so glad that I don't play video games as much as I used to. They are so freaking addicting, especially when you play RPGs that you have an objective to accomplish.
