The Smurfs 3-D and Cowboys & Aliens topped this weekend’s box office - and the numbers are too close to call a winner at this point!
The Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays film and Harrison Ford/Daniel Craig’s sci fi pic both earned an estimated $36.2 million over the weekend - we’ll find out final numbers on Monday.
Third place went to Chris Evans‘ Captain America: The First Avenger, followed by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.
Really impressive for "Smurfs" Even if it ends up being #2, It's fighting against a bigger release (with a bigger budget, more theathers & betters reviews)

It needs to be #1 tho
Hey, if it ends up #2 at least it won't be the first time it's happened to Katy this summer
Among the entrants in the domestic battle royale, The Smurfs opened to $4.4 million from seven territories. That total was driven primarily by a strong $4 million first place start in Spain.
Whatever you say babe. It's not gonna change the fact that it isn't her movie and people assuming it's gonna hit number 1 when it has a chance to hit number 2 instead
I can't believe this was even in the running to outgross a big budget Harrison Ford action movie That's a very strong number for this type of movie though
The Smurfs WILL outgross C&A in the long run. Children's movies are ALWAYS successful. Don't be surprised if it hits $120Mill domestic. That wouldn't be out of the question
