Svelte Spears: Britney's gruelling tour pays off as the pop star shows off chiselled stomach on stage
She may have packed a paunch when she kicked off her U.S. tour last month, but now Britney Spears has the body of a Femme Fatale.
When the superstar singer embarked on her tour in June, she looked out of shape and was even sporting a slight muffin top in her tight costumes.
But now the 29-year-old singer is back in top form, which was evident Friday when she hit the stage for a sold out show at the Palace of Auburn Hill in Detroit, Michigan.
As she danced and pranced around to a string of her hit songs, it was clear that the mother of two has been working overtime to get back in shape.
She wore several eye-catching costumes including a jewelled white leotard with cut out panels that revealed her svelte figure.
The Toxic singer also wore a kimono-style gown, fishnet stockings and studded denim hot pants.
The outfits come courtesy of designer Zaldy Goco, who says: 'The real inspiration of course is Britney herself.
'We’re creating the show for her. But there’s a creative script that was done by the director, Jamie King, and it’s a whole thing about a femme fatale, and femme fatales throughout the ages … she’s sort of changing personas throughout the show.'
She added: 'Britney is a very sexy girl, so everything has to be sexy.'
During the Detroit show, the singer was aided by massive video screens, lasers and a team of dancers.
Reviews of her show have been mostly positive, although a reviewer from the Detroit News was less than complimentary about Thursday night's show.
'Her movement was minimal and she was barely going through the motions of her choreography.
'People are usually more engaged when filing through their Netflix queue than Spears was on stage,' wrote music reviewer Adam Graham.
Although Graham admitted he enjoyed Nicki Minaj's opening act, calling the rapper's 40-minute set 'White hot.'
Britney will complete the U.S. leg of her tour on August 25 and will even be joined on stage by Joe Jonas later this summer, which he announced on Twitter. 'This just in...I will be performing at the @BritneySpears concert in NJ on Aug 5.,' he tweeted yesterday.
In September, Britney will launch a 26 date European concert series with stops in London, Birmingham and Newcastle.

"Hold It Against Me" was far, far more critically acclaimed. Not to mention that it's utter trash when compared to "Hold It Against Me." But I know they'll submit it everywhere, it will be VMAs all over again.
I don't think "I Wanna Go"/"Till The World Ends" fit any of the categories.

I think HIAM is a better song but it wasnt that popular. Till The World Ends is her biggest hit since Womanizer/Circus and will (sadly) be the standout track from this era in the public mind.

TTWE is her only chance at the Grammys this year.
It's so tragic that I still find it hard to believe.
