So, when should we post our thoughts? I've finished watching it (I've seen it before but I always like a recent, informed opinion).

Pulp Fiction is one of those movie that made me a fan of cinema. Gosh so many iconic scene. I mean, when Samuel L Jackson read those passages at the end of the movie, the iconic dance scene, and i'm sure here in my city there is this restaurant that stole the concept of car-seating restaurant from this movie. Great jokes, i loved the massage conversation at the start. Great acting. Perfect movie, best from Tarantino.

I love this thread, and I love Tarantino, and I love Pulp Fiction. Every conversation, every dialogue, is interesting. He's genius. The dark humour is great, too. I still think this deserved the Best Picture win.

BTW, I think Samuel L. Jackson is very good on this one. His bible verse just before killing someone, on of the best characters ever, IMO.

lovve this movie
I remember the 1st time I watched it I was 13, and didnt really get it, so I never really watched it again...but i remember watching it again when I stated working at Hollywood Video, and LOVING it.
I think the best part of the movie is the dialogue. This is the best part of ANY Quentin Tarantino movie He knows how to write a good conversation between his characters. And Uma was just amazing. Brought John Travolta back into the lime light...just GENIUS (although not my fav Quentin Tarantino movie)

sis, i loved Pulp Fiction to death but Forrest Gump pretty much destroyed the competition back in 1995. It was so not fair because best picture noms that day were PACKED (i mean, i would have a hard time to decide which would win between PF, FG and Shawshank Redemption, all three were magnificent but FG deserved it's oscar)
if PF came out on 1995, it would win best picture (1996) since it ******* hard on Braveheart

I love Forrest Gump, made me cry the first time. I do think it's overrated, though. I mean it's a great movie, and deserved the nomination, but Pulp Fiction is more clever. I think what made FG win was the impact it made, way more mainstream than PF.

Yes FG is definitely the movie with the broader audience. For example, my mum who is very selective with her movies loves FG, it's one of her favorites. Whereas Pulp Fiction is definitely more for younger people and guys more than girls and has a way more limited audience. Pulp Fiction did win the Palm d'Or though that year.

Admittedly, I believe that FG was the weakest of the three. That doesn't mean that it didn't deserve to win though, because, even though some people are afraid to admit it, everyone was entranced by that film when it was first released. And besides, that year was RIDICULOUS. Besides PF, FG and Shawshank, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Quiz Show were also nominated. I mean, good god. That could be the most impressive Best Picture group ever.
I'll discuss this film later, but just know that it's one of my favorites and a GREAT start to the Club.
