I haven't really been following Platinum Hit, but I stumbled across this song written by contestant Sonyae Elise, and although it's slightly generic, it still turned out nice for being from a reality tv songwriting contest. Who could you see singing this? For me, Keri Hilson, Ciara, or JoJo come to mind.
UGH, I hate that no one's been watching this amazing show. This song wasn't my favorite out of the whole competition, but she is certainly my favorite songwriter out of the bunch...

Agreed. ;] I just started watching, it's just difficult when it's not up on their website (as far as I can tell). I'm on episode 2 now. Sonyae is sassy. She and Jess are both great.
I felt like I was the only person watching this show. I've been getting life to some of their songs on youtube.
Nick is the biggest asshole/douchebag and will never be a song writer due to his bad reputation, but I love him.
That's the BIGGEST turn-off ever for me, and Nick's attitude was ridiculous. You can't come up in a competition like that acting like you're the best when you're just like everyone else and have yet to truly prove yourself. But it definitely added to the entertainment value of the show. If I were to ever come across anyone like him in real life, though, I'd have no patience whatsoever.
I haaate Nick and I'm made that he got Johnny to go home. But I love Sonyae and I'm rooting for her to win! Exit is my favorite song so far I think, although Love Me To Life is a close second.
I really wanted to watch this, but I kept missing it. Sadly, I saw a report and said the show is not returning for a second season due to extremely low ratings. Less than 500K people were watching!

Yeah, tt was moved from Mondays at 10PM to Fridays at 8PM mid-season
This deserved to be on a more mainstream program, then the views would have been better. The show is underground to people.
Well, Bravo is definitely growing as a network. It's the home of the housewives, which all of the cycles score over 2 million viewers. People just weren't interested.

True.
Well, Housewives is becoming a household. I don't expect those same viewers to branch off to a music show, they want drama.
If the show wasn't dead on arrival, it died as soon as they moved it to Friday slot. But that's Bravo for you; they don't know what to do with anything that isn't a part of the Housewives franchise.
Anyway, I definitely think Sonyae has the most potential to become successful lyricist, but she can't write a memorable melody to save her life. Scotty has an ear for lush pop melodies, but he's sort of useless when it comes to writing. Scotty's biggest issue is the fact that most of his lyrical themes are usually just a bit too hokey and sort of cringeworthy. (Paint this club with amazing, anyone?)
I find myself wishing I could take the best parts of Sonyae (her talent with the pen) and Scotty (his ear for composition), mix them together and create this perfect specimen of songwriter.
Stupid hipster Jes has overstayed her welcome. She'd better finish in third. I would compare her writing to that of the dude from Owl City; ridiculously fluffy and somewhat meaningless, if not completely nonsensical. She's dumb. She and hipster Johnny should just book gigs performing Colby Callait and John Mayer covers at local bars and call it a night. How sickening was it to watch their relationship? No, I won't even dignify it by calling it a relationship - it's charicature of a real relationship, though their perceptions of relationships and genuine feelings are so greatly skewed by the ridiculous number of indie romcoms they've watched in their free time. I mean, they know eachother for all of two days an then Bravo cuts to a scene of Johnny melting into a mushy puddle on the floor after a simply enchanting visit with Jes? Over-the-top much?
I've been watching Platinum Hit religiously, and I've been in love with Sonyae ever since the first episode. I have her 2 mixtapes and they are amazing. THAT GIRL CAN SANG! "Stranger To Love" is my fav song she has recorded on the show.
