Discussion: Is education important to you? - Page 4

It's THE most important thing to me right now. Of course you can succeed without it but it's also easier to fail; at the end of the day you can never argue that it's better not to have an education than to have one. Of course there are plenty of other qualities you need to be successful but your education is your backing. You can be pleasant, resourceful etc. but you need to back it up with something on paper because these days most people won't take a chance on someone. And it isn't even just about a job and money, I just enjoy learning and I'd like to know as much as possible.

I'm in college majoring in graphic designing. But my main goal is to be self employed and start my own business. I want to be my own boss.

I find that disgusting too. I just spent the past 2 years killing myself to get good enough A Levels to get into my chosen university whilst doing a piece of **** job and even if I get a first degree from my first choice of university (after working my arse of for 3 years) I'll struggle to get a job. Even if I get a job they'll earn in a week what I will in a year. It's all very well having the moral high ground but sometimes it feels like you're killing yourself to get success with any reward being in the very distant future whilst others just have instant success handed to them on a plate

Besides, that's just the way it is. I took one year off actually so in all fairness I have 5 years to do in college, 2 years in law school and one extra year in Management school to be really THE ****. It's extremly long

Ah yes, I sought the same qualities in a guy. Never dated a guy who wasn't college bound. I'm very serious about my education, though not motivated enough to do a phd. Then again, i just got done with my masters last year. Perhaps I need a break.

I will remain less educated than my fiancé, who has his Phd and two masters degrees
