I know that this has probably been done time and time again, but I have a new perspective I would like to share with you about single choices.
I believe that singles should not only be able to draw a crowd to listen, but it should also come with a meaning for helping better the album sales. I have a theory on how single selection SHOULD work and I want you to incorporate (as best as you can

) my theory into which songs on an album you'd want to be singles. Okay, now here's my theory:
Quote:
An artist should release mainly three singles incorporated with their album and only the ones that follow the specific layout:
1. the "hype" song = a song that draws a crowd, gets everyone talking, and possible can reach the top of the charts / it doesn't have to channel the direction of the album it will be on, but it must be able to create hype
2. the "direction" song = a song that not only reveals more about the album, but gives the listener a better understanding on what the album will sound like / it shows the direction the artist wants to go for his/her album
3. the "fan" song = a song that may come before or after (likely after) the album has been released, but it was specifically created to entertain the artist's fans / this could be their best song off the album or just the one the fans really want (more than any other song) to be released from the album or one that is dedicated to the fans

Now, I'm not saying this is the perfect format, but it's just something I sort of noticed in an amount of successful single releases, so I would love to try and test everyone's musical ability on choosing the best singles for certain albums...
So let's give this a go: which are the best choices for singles for...
