PAYMENT PER STREAM TO THE CONTENT HOLDERS:

Hulu: $26 per 1000 streams (assume it pays 2/3 of its $40 CPM)
VEVO: $7 per 1000 streams (including VEVO on youtube) ------VEVO CPM is about $30 but only about 20-25% of VEVO views are actually on VEVO.com. The big majority is from Youtube.com. Otherwise, VEVO would pay out about $14 per 1000 streams.


Youtube: $3 per $1000 streams
Spotify: $3 per 1000 streams
Pandora: $1 per 1000 streams


VEVO commands only 1/4 of HULU because a lot of VEVO views come from Youtube.

If all of VEVO views come from VEVO and the rate is the same as Hulu, then

100 million views = $2.6 million, not $700,000.

This is misleading or at least very confusing. The vast majority of views that these videos receive come through YouTube's domain and YouTube has its own payment scheme for popular videos.

Nope. VEVO pays $0.007 per view and that include views from Youtube, AOL, CBS, MP3.com etc....



Look at this chart:

Hulu pays $0.026 per view (assume VEVO pays 66% of its ad revenue...its CPM is $40)
VEVO pays $0.007 per view (including VEVO on youtube, aol, cbs, etc...)
Youtube pays $0.003 per view

The reason why VEVO pays so low compare to Hulu is because a lot of VEVO views come from Youtube.

If all those views are from VEVO, it would command as high a rate as HULU. Remember that MUSIC VIDEOS are professional contents. It commands a much higher premium compare to "DO IT YOURSELF" youtube videos like Smosh, NigaHiga etc....

On another note, the prices that they pay for 1000 views is very high, for all of the listed sites. No wonder it's so difficult for YouTube to turn a profit.
