This is what most people fail to understand when they think that they want to be a moderator. When you become a moderator, you are no longer just one of the faces in the crowd. In fact, in many different aspects, you are the exact OPPOSITE. Excessively playing favorites in your position, using your power to your advantage in stan wars or not taking the position seriously would get you booted out of the position faster than you can say "Shane". Someone who shades all the time would have to tone it down once becoming a moderator. I'm not saying that you can't shade. As we have seen, we have plenty of moderators more than willing to shade when the time calls for it. But the uber-stans would never stand a chance because they would basically lose their identity.
In order to be a moderator, almost all of you will have to at least alter certain aspects of your current persona. If you don't, you won't make it beyond six months. If that.
