Ch...I just looked through Janet's discography and did some research and this is DEPRESSING.

Janet's first two albums could have been certified Gold each because they did each sell around 300k, but I guess it makes Control all the more astonishing if those two remain uncertified. I think Janet wants to forget about them anyway.

But back to the point, Control is only at 5x Platinum when it should be at 7x, while Rhythm Nation and janet. are stuck around 5-6x Platinum but should each be Diamond. The Velvet Rope should be 4x Platinum instead of 3x, and Discipline should be given a Gold certification.

I hope Jive/RCA don't do this to Britney. We don't need her discography tainted like Janet's, too.

Most certifications are always about shipments not sales. The only way you can't certify something before it reaches that plateau is only if the certification is for a single (at least in the US that is). Singles in today's landscape are certified based on sales because of the digital era. You can't go to the music store and purchase singles anymore; the days of physical singles are over. So with physical singles gone.....so does shipment certifications for singles.

The digital era has really changed the music world in a lot of ways.

Digital singles can be certified before reaching the plateau as well.

Taylor Swift's "Love Story" was certified 5X Platinum more than six months before reaching the milestone, while it was still at 4.5 million.

You have got to be kidding me? That's awful!

I can understand why it's done with album shipments, but with singles too? Not when it's sold almost strictly online through music stores and those numbers are all accounted for.

IASF was certified 3x platinum a long time ago, it may not be on the site but it was.


And a lot of album that are Diamond have only sold 8-9 million, which is why I said TWOTW might as well be certified Diamond.

B'Day is three times platinum already and it has sold 3.2 million units so I hope a 4 times platinum can be pulled off by shipping some extra. I know Shania has a Double Diamond plaque for selling 15 million units.
