Discussion: What do you have against fem gays?

I am very loud and outspoken about being gay.
I get talked about a lot, in class, out of class, in public, within my family. It doesn't matter.
I remain unbothered because I am secure with who I am, love who I am, and no one can tell me any different.
However, most people find, especially straight guys, that I'm not that bad to be around. A lot of straight guys tell me I'm a bit too much to handle at first, but after a while y'know they're used to it and they enjoy being around me.
Anyway, people are what and who they are.
End of.

PREACH!
Honestly, people that have a problem with gay men that are "different" from themselves most likely just have internalized homophobia.

I don't know why people are acting like it's so bad to be fem though when alot of straight guys even ones I know are becoming more and more fem as the days go by. I can't tell you how many guys at my school went from wearing baggy clothes and talking about football and basket to now wearing tighter fitting designer clothes, getting manicures, dying their hair blonde, getting their eyebrows arched and talking about shopping and how much they love it.

This. I am glad you feel that way! Many gay people feel as though their identity should be determined by heteronormaltive society. At some point I think we all experience it. Even straight people deal with this. Not being able to deal with adversity is a sign of immaturity and issues that reside within the individual who appears to be pressed.

I think it is mostly an age thing. I am assuming many of these anti-femmes are younger, maybe even still in high school, and the world is a very different place then. When people start growing up, they let go of not only a lot of their open bigotry, but also their own insecurities

The LGBT community will never grow if we keep up with this self-hate. Feminine, masculine, downlow and closeted ( ) we are all the same. Don't hate on each other and open the doors for homophobes to weaken us more.

Let's break this the **** down, shall we:
1) The implication that being feminine is less than being masculine is not only bigoted towards femme gay men, but also that women are less than men. As if acting like a woman makes you less of a person than acting like a man. This shows how low of a person you are
2) There is a difference between feminine and full-out drag queen, which is usually for entertainment anyway. I am friends with a lot of drag queens, and they are the most courageous people in our community. They are the ones who will stand up to bashers and fight for our rights etc
3) It is different in homophobic countries...I understand that there is more of a risk involved and understand not wanting to be femme in that situation. But in the US there is NO reason we can't act as feminine as we want to. We take on the brunt of homophobia, and it isn't fair for the scared little "masc" homos to side with the bigots. I did it earlier in the thread, and I will do it again....the BIGOTS are the problem in any discrimination situation, NOT the stereotype that is hated on.
4) I am not a caricature of myself. I am naturally feminine, I am naturally loud, and I am naturally gay. People who posture themselves to be more masculine or "straight-acting" because they are so ****ing scared of society not liking them...THAT is the caricature, THAT is the act.
5) Yeah, maybe you have never been gay-bashed. But I bet you have never stood up for gays or their rights either. I bet you cower in the corner and say nothing...because that is what so many of your type do. Can't wait for that to backfire.
|
Why are drag queens being brought into this? I have absolutely no problem with those and I have a whole different opinion about them so please stay on topic? It's the goddamn fems I have a problem with. Dont try to tell me you're naturally fem. That type of behavior is learned, most likely through media. You act that way because you feel different simply for being gay. We are NOT different. And we will truly accomplish greater things once the fems stop acting different from straight society.
I am not a scared little masc, I am openly gay to everyone which brings me to your 5th point: I've done PLENTY for the gay community. I've showed people that being gay is neither different nor bad. I've teached people that you can have a blast with gay friends: go to a football game, hit the bars, make jokes, play games, have meaningful cinversations. What are you fems doing? Secluding yourselves in your little so called community and further segregating yourselves? Talking about meaningless crap like fashion and gossip? Proving that we are indeed loud, annoying, and promiscuous at gay parades?
I think we are doing far more than you, if you ask me

This thread reminds me why I hate the gay community, however.
The scrutiny that homosexuals get will never end if we as a community can't even agree with the differences in our own "community."
The "gay rights" fight will be over when both homosexuals (I would put more emphasis on homosexuals) and heterosexuals quit acting like there's something to be ashamed of by being gay.
I mean, I've found personally that when "straight" people who try to bully me, put me down, find that they're actions down intimidate me, don't hurt my feelings, don't change anything, that they eventually get over it.
It might be more difficult being a "fem" gay, even being scrutinized by "masculine" gays, but there's nothing wrong with them.

And in the case of my school, wear foundation. Metrosexuals are starting to rule the world and when I think about fem gays I think about gays that act talk walk like a woman, not their beauty habits.

I came out to my mom/dad when I was 15.
My dad picked me up by the collar of my shirt and threw me outside of the house, threatened to kill me.
He ended up going back inside, got a 6 pack of beer, punched out a window and he left.
