Final Potter book was supposed to be a movie trilogy!
Quote:
Just think: we could have had even more Harry Potter. Producer David Heyman said Sunday that at one point it was suggested to make the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, into a movie trilogy. He said screenwriter Steve Kloves had called him to say there was enough in the final Potter book for three films, but Heyman turned down the idea, opting for a two-parter instead. Muggles flocked to the opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 this weekend, spending $80 million on Friday alone and helping the movie beat the previous single-day record set by Twilight: New Moon. The final Harry Potter film could even break 2008’s The Dark Knight $158.4 million for the highest opening weekend ever.
I think two is enough, it was the director's fault that some of the more important scenes like Kreacher's tale were sacrificed for unnecessary fillers and how the Part 1 was crammed and divided unevenly with the majority of the book making part 2 seemed really short.

I'd rather they end it the way it did in two parts than have it dragged and milked for money and potentially losing its charm by making it into three. That's just me.

FAIL @ everyone discussing how much they wish the movies were different. A novel doesn't always translate perfectly to on-screen action, so if you want the full story, and haven't read all the books, I suggest you stick your nose into the books right now... The movies were great on their own, especially if you read all the books, because no matter what was left out of the films, we already know what happened. It ended just fine. I know it's human nature to criticize, but it won't change what's already happened.
I thought the movie was pretty close to the book. Maybe because I haven't read the book in over a year, so I may have forgotten a lot. I think a mistake a lot of people make is reading the book right before they watch the corresponding movie. Of course you're going to be disappointed.
