I feel for Hope Solo. She's not going to take this loss well, I just know it. I really wanted Abi to get that World Cup title. She only has one more WWC in her left.
I'm glad that I'm not seeing people bash Japan. Seriously, of all the teams to beat the US, I would think that we would be least depressed with Japan winning, right? No country deserves this more.
I'm just really touched by this and very happy for the Japanese team. The commentator just gave a few facts:
-Japan has never been past quarterfinals in the WC
-They have played 25 times against the US, out of those they lost 22 and managed to tie 3, they lost to them as recently as just before this world cup
I just can't help but love a good outsider story. Japan really needed this win right now
Honestly, Japan makes for the ultimate feel good story for any country that has encountered the devastation that they have and come together to win the World Cup. I can only imagine the celebration they will go home to.
